[Rumor] Persona 1 Remake Footage Leaked

Remakes for the first two Persona mainline games has been a subject of recent discussion with the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations, recent surveys, and responses in interviews with Atlus creative producer Kazuhisa Wada:

When asked about remakes for the first two Persona games, Wada had the following to say: “At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it,” he said.”

In the wake of this, footage from an apparent Persona 1 remake has leaked.

The footage consists of what seems to be placeholder footage of the Persona 1 protagonist navigating a dungeon, Persona 1 characters in combat (alongside an appearance from Persona 2 protagonist Tatsuya Suou), and a story scene.

The legitimacy of this footage has been put into question, however it is reminiscent of when Persona 3 Reload footage originally leaked, destined for a Sega Japan internal meeting in 2021. It is possible that this footage was never meant to see the light of day, and was made purely for internal purposes.

A point to consider, and one that may lend credence to the P! Remake footage, is that it reuses some animations from Persona 4 Revival, a game that has yet to be released.

Editor’s Note: We take the reporting of rumors and leaks very seriously, with each previously reported on eventually being confirmed. This one has been harder to ascertain than others, but there are a number of factors that have driven us to consider it as likely being legitimate.
